Why the Indian Media is Targeting Varun Gandhi?

While the Election Commission and the Uttar Pradesh Police investigate the communal remarks of Varun Gandhi, the ensuing Delhi based media circus should keep us entertained as real India makes up its mind on real issues.Coming back to the subject of this post, it is interesting that the Election Commission is picking on Varun Gandhi when far worse things have been said by the Congress on communalizing the role of the Election Commision.
It is a commentary on the Delhi based medias BJP obsessive compulsive disorder that this story has been completely ignored. On 15th March 2009 the Congress Party organized a blatantly communal event in Chandigarh. The event was organized in a Mosque, Jama Masjid Sector 20 to be precise. The organizers of the event left no one in doubt on the communal intentions of the event.
In a bid to woo the Muslim community ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, the Congress had organised a rally highlighting its secular credentials. Nearly 23 Muslim organisations from the city have also extended their support to the party. Addressing the event were AICC General Secretary Mohsina Kidwai and Chairman of All India Congress Committee Minority Cell Imraan Kidwai.

Both the Kidwais speeches were markedly communal in nature but Mr. Imraan Kidwais remarks should be of specific interest to the Election Commission for he not just challenged the Constitutional Role of the Election Commission but sought to communalize it through a Fatwa.
Imraan Kidwai, chairman of the All India Congress Community, Minority Cell, said that if he had the power, he would issue a fatwa asking Muslims to abstain from joining the BJP. He said the Congress had never tried to change the Muslim personnel law.
Now that was just the medias watered down version for Mr. Kidwais speech also dwelt on atrocities on Muslims by BJP Governments.
Does the Congress Party have the conviction to own up to its faith in Fatwas and Muslim Fundamentalist Clergy ti subordinate the Election Commission and the Constitution ?
Will the Election Commission in the interest of Dharma initiate action against Mr. Imraan Kidwai and the Congress Party for this for this blatant attempt at voter intimidation through the threat of Fatwa via Muslim Fundamentalist Clergy ?

IM ‘terror mail’ threatens to kill Advani

An email, purportedly sent by the Indian Mujahideen, has threatened that the outfit will kill BJP leader L K Advani during his scheduled visit to Shillong on September 29.

The email, written in incohesive English, was dispatched to some local newspaper houses on Wednesday night sending the entire police machinery in the state into a tizzy.

Signed by self-styled North-East Field Commander of IM, Ali Hussain Badr, the email said Advani’s “Hindutva demand has pushed India into a fascist mould”.

Meanwhile, the senior police officials held a high-level meeting with Chief Minister Donkupar Roy.

Police visited a newspaper house where the email was sent and analysed it.

“We can’t say anything now, we are trying to trace the IP address,” a senior police official said, adding that prime facie it appeared that the email was sent from Shillong itself.

Manmohan sing govt most inefficient: Advani

Senior BJP leader and party prime ministerial candidate LK Advani on Tuesday alleged that the Manmohan Singh government is the most inefficient one which compromised national security and pushed the price-graph due to its financial mismanagement.

‘‘The Narasimha Rao government was corrupt, but the present government is the most inefficient and corrupt as its financial mismanagement has led to rising inflation and the voting during trust vote exposed its compromise on national security,’’ Advani accused during the ‘Sankalp’ Rally’ at Dhumka.

The former deputy prime minister said the Congress’ welfare programmes had been named after Gandhi family, ignoring several other leaders who sacrificed their lives fighting for India’s independence.

Referring to the recent serial bomb blasts in the country, he claimed that whatever arrests were made in that connection was under pressure from Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi.

The leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha asked youths to treat voting as not only their right but also their duty and to carefully exercise it.

‘‘The youth power in Jharkhand is well known after it has become the latest cricketing power…The youth should make a comparison between the performances of the previous Vajpayee government and the present one before deciding to vote,’’ Advani said referring to MS Dhoni’s success.

The former prime minister recalled his ‘Rathyatra’ days in 1990s when he was arrested at Samastipur and lodged in a camp jail in Dhumka’s Massanjore. ‘‘Even during freedom movement jail inmates could send out messages, but in my case things were different,’’ he said.

Govt have not Celebrated Hydrabad Liberation Day

17 September 1948 is indeed a watershed in the history of India’s Freedom Struggle. The collective will of the people of the Hyderabad State not merely repulsed the Nizam’s attempt to make the region an independent country but also ensured its merger with the Indian Union. When the entire India was celebrating Independence Day on the 15 August 1947, the people of the Nizam’s princely state were facing repression for demanding the state’s merger with India. Undeterred by the brutality of the Nizam and his private army, the Razakars, the people of the Hyderabad state sustained a spirited fight for freedom.

It was the bold decision of Police Action taken by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the then Home Minster and the Iron man of India, which compelled the Nizam to surrender and accede to the Indian Union on 17 September 1948. The people of the Hyderabad state therefore had to struggle for 13 months and 2 days for their own freedom after the rest of India had gained independence from British rule. The map of India would not have been what it is, had the Nizam been allowed to succeed in the Nizam’s evil designs.

Therefore the demand of the people of the erstwhile Hyderabad State to celebrate their freedom is entirely just. The Governments of Karnataka and Maharashtra, which got two parts of the erstwhile Nizam Kingdom, have duly acknowledged the freedom struggle. As a result, September 17 is officially celebrated every year as the Hyderabad State Liberation Day in these areas of Karnataka and Maharashtra.

It is unfortunate that the people of the Telangana region in Andhra Pradesh are deprived of official celebration of their freedom from the Nizam rule on 17 September. This demand acquired momentum during the Golden Jubilee Celebrations of the Hyderabad Liberation Day in 1998. The BJP organized a huge public meeting in Hyderabad on 17 September 1998, in which I participated in my capacity as the Union Home Minister. It was after this that the demand for annual celebration of 17 September once again came to the center-stage in Telangana.

It is most unfortunate that the Congress government in Andhra Pradesh has rejected this demand solely because of the ruling party’s vote-bank considerations. It is beyond my comprehension as to how the official celebration of Hyderabad Liberation Day would hurt the feelings of any community. After all, the Telangana Freedom struggle is witness to the fact that it was the martyrdom of Shoabullah Khan, whose hands were chopped off before he was shot dead, that really ignited the Liberation Movement.

The demand for official recognition to 17 September is closely linked to the demand for a separate Telangana, which the BJP fully supports.

I would like the Central and State Governments to realize that for the people of Telangana the celebration of Independence Day on 15th August would be incomplete if they are not allowed to celebrate their Liberation Day on 17th September. I urge all the patriotic forces in India and Andhra Pradesh to support the democratic and nationalist aspirations of more than 3.5 crore people of Telangana.
