There is famous Rigvedic Verse that says “Ekam Sat ” that is “There is one Being ,the sages call Him by many names.” The  God (Parmeshwar) has three deities who carry on the world .This is Known as Holy Trinity. Brahma- the creator, Vishnu – the perpetuator of life and Shiva (Mahesh ) -the purifier and perpetuator of good and destroyer of evil. Rig Veda refer Shiva as Rudra as in its following verse .  “We Worship Tryambaka (Rudra) , Who spread Fragrance and Increases Nourishment , May He release me ,like the cucumber from its stem , From Mortal Life , But not From Immorality . “(Rig Veda Mandal VII Sukta 59 and Mantra 12)

The Yajurveda describes Shiva as ascetic warrior Whose robe is of Deer Skin  and He carries Trishul .
According to the verse Satyam, Shivam ,Sundaram ,the life is described as having three facets Truth (Satyam), Good (Shivam) and the Beautiful (Sundaram).
Shiva is a living God. The most Sacred and  ancient books of India, the Rig Veda narrates His presence in the hymns. Vedic myths, rituals and even astronomy testifies to His existence from the dawn of time .The Mohindaro and Harapa findings confirm Shiva worship in the ancient India. According to the older scriptures, He has three places  of His residence. One is  Kailash Parvat another  is Lohit Giri under which Brahamputra flows and third is Muzwan Parvat .

The Amarnath Cave has special significance .

The  Legend about the  importance of Amarnath Cave is as follows :-

This is The Cave which was chosen by Bhole Shankar  for narrating the secrets of immortality and creation of Universe  to Maa Parvati ji .   The story goes like this  .   Centuries ago Maa Parvati asked Shiv ji  to  let her know why and when  He  started wearing the beads of heads ( Mund Mala)  .   Bhole Shankar replied when ever you are born  I add one more head in my beads .  Maa Parvati said ,”  My Lord, my body is destroyed every time  and I die again and again, but you are Immortal. Please let me know the secret of this .” Bhole Shankar replied that it is due to Amar Katha .”

Maa Parvati insisted that she may be told that secret.  For long Shiva ji continued postponing .   Finally on consistent demand from Maa Parvati He made up his mind to tell the immortal secret . He started  for    lonely  place  where  no living  being  could  listen  it .  He choose Amarnath Cave .  In preparation to that He left His Nandi ( The Bull which He used to ride )  at Pahalgam (Bail gaon) .  At Chandanwari He released Moon from his hairs (Jataon). At the banks of Lake Sheshnag He released the snakes .  He decided to leave his Son Ganesha at Mahagunas Parvat (Mahaganesh Hill ) . At Panjtarni, Shivji  left the Five Elements behind (Earth , Water, Air , Fire and Sky)  which make living being . He is the Lord of these elements.  It is believed that as a symbol of sacrificing the earthly world , Shivaji and  Maa Parvati  had Tandav Dance . After leaving behind all these, Bhole Shankar enters theHoly Amarnath Cave along with Parvati Maa . Lord Shiva takes his Samadhi on the Deer Skin and concentrate . To ensure that no living being is able to hear the Immortal Tale , He created Rudra named Kalagni and ordered him  to spread fire to eliminate every living  thing in and around the HolyCave . After this He started narrating  the secret of immortality to Maa Parvati . But as a matter of chance one egg which was lying beneath the  Deer skin remained protected . It is believed to be non living and more over it was protected by Shiva -Parvati Asan (Bed) .  The pair of pigeons which were born out of this  egg became immortal  having listened the secret  of immortality (Amar Katha).
Many pilgrims report seeing the pair of pigeons  when they trek the arduous route to pay their obeisance before the Ice-Lingam (the phallic symbol of Shiva).

The Shri Amarnath Shrine Sangarsh Samiti on Sunday claimed that Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh  was sleeping during the discussions with the all-party delegation that visited Jammu and Kashmir recently.

“Many of the leaders who accompanied Home Minister Shivraj Patil as part of an all-party delegation to Jammu were just not interested in resolving the crisis. Amar Singh was actually napping when the talks were on,” SASS convenor Leela Karan Sharma alleged.

“I asked Amar Singh whether you had come here to sleep or listen to our grievances,” he said.

Sharma said the attitude of the delegation clearly pointed out to the lack of seriousness on the part of the Centre in addressing the demand of Jammu residents.

We found this images from the Leading Pakistani News Paper The Dawn.Its very surprising that we are not getting these kind of images from our national media.I am not able to find out the reason for that.When small riot occurs in Gujarat or any other part of India,Media is shouting like anything but these kind of images we are not getting from National Media.I really doubt about the people caught in the camera are having Any respect for India ?

Shekhar Gupta: It is said that the BJP and RSS openly discriminate against the backwards classes.

Madan Das Devi: We are going deep into addressing social inequality. But this is not easy. We have started many programmes. For example, girls living in slums were worshipped on Vijaya Dashami. In Chennai, 400 sadhus of different sects were taken to slums inhabited by Dalits and offered food.

Suman Jha: People feel that Baba Ramdev, Shri Shri Ravi Shankar are replacing the space occupied by the RSS earlier.

Madan Das Devi: They are our supporters. All those who are good people sympathise with us.


Ruchika Talwar: And those who don’t, aren’t good people?

Madan Das Devi: Those who aren’t with us today, will be with us tomorrow.

Suman K Jha: There is a feeling that the RSS is still wedded to the idea of Akhand Bharat. When Vajpayee went to Pakistan, he visited Minar-e-Pakistan. Advani by his intervention on Jinnah tried to signal to Pakistan that we are reconciled to the idea of Pakistan. The RSS is still not reconciled to the existence of Pakistan.

Madan Das Devi: Our Sanghsanchalak (leader) has said Akhand Bharat need not be achieved by war only. That’s not the idea. There can be an understanding, a friendly country of the same origin. If a country is divided, a country can unite as well. We have one geo-cultural and social identity and the same family systems and values. We always give the example of Israel. For 1,800 years, Israelis lived outside Israel. If they could keep their desire of living in Israel alive so long, why can’t we? What are 50-60 years?


Suman K Jha: Is this the reason why the RSS has Pakistan within the map of India?

Madan Das Devi: It is a cultural map of India, not political.

Tridivesh Singh Maini: The name of your organisation is RSS. People are comfortable with that name as it stands for a composite Indian culture. But why can’t we live with the fact that every Indian can have a distinct identity yet be an Indian?

Madan Das Devi: Multi-culture, multi-god and tolerance are qualities of India because India is Hindu. We are secular because we are Hindus. The reason we are so liberal is because we are Hindus. India was divided on the basis of religion. But India remained secular. Who has kept it secular? We Indians — Hindus.


Ruchika Talwar: How can the RSS advocate the idea of Akhand Bharat and force everyone to think he’s a Hindu? I can be an Indian and still not be a Hindu.

Madan Das Devi: India, Bhartiya and Hindu — all have the same meaning. We have the liberty to worship by choice. That’s Indian culture.

The group that began the protests in Jammu, the Amarnath Yatra Sangarsh Samiti has gone from being a political movement led by BJP and Sena activists to something that ordinary people in Jammu are now supporting in a big way. On Monday doctors in Jammu joined the agitation.

On the other hand the economic blockade imposed in Kashmir by the very same Amarnath Yatra Sangarsh Samiti is squeezing Srinagar where stocks of essential commodities even medicines are running out.


After almost 30 years, Sister Kaushal is back on the roads, leading a procession of para-medical staff. She is a nurse at the government medical college hospital. The last time she was part of a protest was in college.

But today it’s the Amarnath land that has roused doctors and medical personnel. They’ve all taken casual leave for a day to show their support for the Amarnath Yatra Sangarsh Samiti.

“The Emergency services have not been stopped and it’s our profession to take care of the patients, but we are the residents of Jammu, and are with the Sangarsh Samiti, we support them and that’s why we have come out on the roads,” said Sister Kaushal.

Dr S S Samiyal who is Sister Kaushal’s son had never participated in a protest before.But the Amarnath issue has gone from being a political fight to a social one.


Initially the agitation was not that intense, and had in fact become a relay hunger strike. But after one protester committed suicide more people got involved and their stand became more uncompromising.

“Our entire family is with this agitation, even my small daughter, who is just three years old is involved in it, she tells me in the evening that why don’t I take part in the agitation” said Dr S S Samiyal.

The intensity of the protests can only be gauged from the simple fact that today a mother and her son are both on the roads protesting, they want that the land that was taken from the shrine board should be returned.
