An email, purportedly sent by the Indian Mujahideen, has threatened that the outfit will kill BJP leader L K Advani during his scheduled visit to Shillong on September 29.

The email, written in incohesive English, was dispatched to some local newspaper houses on Wednesday night sending the entire police machinery in the state into a tizzy.

Signed by self-styled North-East Field Commander of IM, Ali Hussain Badr, the email said Advani’s “Hindutva demand has pushed India into a fascist mould”.

Meanwhile, the senior police officials held a high-level meeting with Chief Minister Donkupar Roy.

Police visited a newspaper house where the email was sent and analysed it.

“We can’t say anything now, we are trying to trace the IP address,” a senior police official said, adding that prime facie it appeared that the email was sent from Shillong itself.

Manmohan sing govt most inefficient: Advani

Senior BJP leader and party prime ministerial candidate LK Advani on Tuesday alleged that the Manmohan Singh government is the most inefficient one which compromised national security and pushed the price-graph due to its financial mismanagement.

‘‘The Narasimha Rao government was corrupt, but the present government is the most inefficient and corrupt as its financial mismanagement has led to rising inflation and the voting during trust vote exposed its compromise on national security,’’ Advani accused during the ‘Sankalp’ Rally’ at Dhumka.

The former deputy prime minister said the Congress’ welfare programmes had been named after Gandhi family, ignoring several other leaders who sacrificed their lives fighting for India’s independence.

Referring to the recent serial bomb blasts in the country, he claimed that whatever arrests were made in that connection was under pressure from Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi.

The leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha asked youths to treat voting as not only their right but also their duty and to carefully exercise it.

‘‘The youth power in Jharkhand is well known after it has become the latest cricketing power…The youth should make a comparison between the performances of the previous Vajpayee government and the present one before deciding to vote,’’ Advani said referring to MS Dhoni’s success.

The former prime minister recalled his ‘Rathyatra’ days in 1990s when he was arrested at Samastipur and lodged in a camp jail in Dhumka’s Massanjore. ‘‘Even during freedom movement jail inmates could send out messages, but in my case things were different,’’ he said.

Under UPA terror has sprung roots within country

Opposition leader L K Advani and Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday accused the UPA of playing vote bank politics while terrorism struck roots within the country.

Addressing a crowded press conference at the BJP headquarters in Delhi, the leaders demanded a white paper on the banned Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI), believed to be behind the recent terror attacks in Rajasthan and Gujarat.

“What the Congress party and its allies have kept saying is encouraging and strengthening terrorism,” Advani said, referring to recent pro-SIMI statements from Samajwadi chief Mulayam Singh Yadav and RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav. “The government should admit that SIMI is a grave danger to national security,” Advani said.

Demanding the reintroduction of a tough anti-terror legislation like POTA, the BJP leaders said that while the NDA had to deal with terrorism, SIMI had actually sprung roots inside the country during the UPA’s rule. Cross border terrorism had still not ended.

While the NDA had sensitized the world to the threat of terrorism emanating from Pakistan, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh went ahead and said that Pakistan too was a victim of terrorism after the Mumbai train attacks of 2006.

Painting an alarming picture of the ‘Indian Mujahideen’, the SIMI splinter group headed by Safdar Nagori, Modi said that investigations by the Gujarat police had reveled that the group was active in at least nine states. “They are very well educated and financially well off. Both during interrogations and while they are relaxed, they openly share their ideology of the Taliban. We were shocked.”

Modi lamented that despite the breakthroughs achieved by the Gujarat police in rounding up the mastermind behind the Ahmedabad blasts, there had not been a word of appreciation from the centre or from the Congress party.

Modi, who recently met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, emphasized the need for a strong anti-terror law like the Gujarat COCA on the lines of the Maharashtra COCA. “I told the Prime Minister that such a law would prevent children from straying (on the path of terrorism), but he was silent. I await his decision.”

The 2004 act has been passed by the Gujarat state assembly twice but is yet to be ratified by the centre. “The Centre does not say yes or no, there is just silence,” Modi said, adding that while Maharashtra had an MCOCA, Gujarat, just 50 km away had no act to use against terrorism.

In the face of vote bank politics, Advani said that even a central anti-terrorism force would be useless. “If the government lacks the will to curb terrorism, such a force will be useless,” Advani said.

Sports Minister Gill insisted Bindra not to visit Advani

In reports we have in Times of India on 17th August , It is mentioned that Our respected Sports minister Gill insisted Olympic Gold Medalist Abhinav Bindra to visit only soniya Gandhi and not Opposition Leader Mr Advani. Here we should also note that Mr Advani is the leader of Opposition and Mrs Soniya Gandhi is no where in Government theoratically.

At the moment like this, when Idia have the first individual Gold medal, playing a politics, insisting a player to not to visit Mr Advani is very shamefull. There is no role of Mr Gill or Mrs Soniya Gandhi in the Succes of Mr Abhinav Bindra. Here we should also notice that Mr Advani is teh Leader Of the Opposition ,”Prati Paksh” in Vajpeyji’s term, while Mrs Soniya Gandhi theoratically no where in the government. And Its not the protocol to visit 10,Jan Path. But our sports minister insisted Mr Bindra not to visit Mr Advani and instead of him Visit Soniya Gandhi. Its very much clear that Mr Gill is busy in prooving him self a Loyal Nehuru Gandhi Parivar Well wisher.

Its Mr Abhinav Bindra’s common sense that he visited Mr Advani though Mr Gill insisted him not to Visit.
For those who are not aware of Mr Gill,I would Like to Remind you thatt Mr Gill was a Chief Election Commisionr of India. And I think he had provided enough proofs to prove is loyalty to the Nehru Gandhi Parivar when he was an Election Commissionar.

It is shocking to note this report ,when the present sports minister was the former chief election commissioner, who is supposed to be impartial, had gone to this extend. What all he has done as CEC,how much he might have been biased. Can a person become so much submissive, forgetting about his status.

It seems that he is in Competition with Mr Shivraj Patil to praise the Nehru Gandhi Family.

Jammu continues to simmer; Army called in

The Army has been called in Jammu and Samba in order to ensure that no further violent protest takes place in the region.

Protests against the forest land transfer to Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB) took an ugly turn on Friday when two protesters were killed and scores of others injured in police firing at Samba and clashes with policemen across Jammu region.

Those killed have been identified as Sunil and Yougal Samyal.

The events took place even after Governor NN Vohra announced the shrine board will be handed back the responsibility of running the annual yatra.

Army was called tonight in Samba and the unit conducted a flag march. Though curfew was imposed in Jammu and Samba, protesters openly defied the orders and fought pitched battles with police and also set afire a police station.

Meanwhile, the Shri Amarnathji Yatra Sangarsh Samiti has declared it would hold no further talks with Vohra over the Amaranth land row. The Samiti has been spearheading a stir in the Jammu region for a month demanding restoration of land to SASB and removal of Vohra.

“We have decided not to hold any talks with the governor over the Amarnath land dispute as there is no blueprint to resolve the issue,” Samiti spokesperson Tilak Raj Sharma said.

Jammu is boiling for the last one month since protests broke out demanding restoration of the land transfer order.

On Friday, Schools, businesses and other institutions have been closed and curfew was reimposed as fresh violence erupted following the arrival of National Conference patron and former CM of Jammu and Kashmir Farooq Abdullah and People’s Democratic Party chief Mehbooba Mufti in Jammu.

Amaranth protesters clashed with cops at various places leaving over 10 people including two policemen injured. They also burned a Panjtirthi police post.

More than 1,000 Hindu activists had laid a siege around Jammu Airport once they came to know that Farooq and Mehbooba had landed from Srinagar. The two remained stranded at the airport for more than two-and-half hours. Finally they were escorted by a massive police team to the Raj Bhavan.

Some activists of the Shri Amarnath Sangharsh Samiti (SASS) parked trucks on the main road leading to the Raj Bhavan to block the passage. They also demonstrated outside the Raj Bhavan at Panjtirthi raising slogans against governor N N Vohra, Mehbooba, Farooq and Omar Abdullah. They burned effigies of NC and PDP leaders and flags during protests across the city.

Agitators also tried to enter Raj Bhavan but were prevented by police. Violent protests also took place at the Parade and Purani Mandi areas where agitated mobs pelted stones besides targeting the police personnel with firecrackers. There were demonstrations and road blocks at various places.

The Centre has also refused to support BJP’s demand for the restoration of Jammu and Kashmir government’s order allotting land on a temporary basis to Amarnath Shrine Board to build shelters for Shiva devotees who throng the state for a darshan.

Centre’s stance was conveyed to BJP leader L K Advani and his colleague Arun Jaitley by PM Manmohan Singh on Thursday evening. “This will lead to complications,” Singh is learnt to have told his visitors.
The PM had called Advani and Jaitley over to discuss the volatile situation.
