After Jaya-Raj spat, now Shiv Sena targets SRK
2008
It is not just the Bachchan family, now Shah Rukh Khan, too, is in the line of fire in Maharashtra. Shiv Sena’s mouthpiece Saamna, carried an editorial on Tuesday, which lashed out at Shah Rukh Khan for being a “Dilliwala”. ”Shah Rukh says he is a Dilliwala. If you are from Delhi, then why have you come to Maharashtra,” Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray said in the editorial.
“You come to Maharashtra to earn fame and wealth but once you have had your fill, then you will evoke the name of the region from where you came from. And Marathi people are expected not to utter a word in their own state,” Thackeray added. The Saamna editorial seems like a reaction to actor Jaya Bachchan’s alleged ‘anti-Marathi’ utterances.
Jaya apologised for her remarks after Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) activists went on a rampage in Maharashtra tearing off posters of films featuring members of the Bachchan family.
