Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today held a meeting with the Leader of the Opposition L K Advani and discussed the internal security scenario.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Thursday held a meeting with the Leader of the Opposition L K Advani in New Delhi on Thursday and discussed the internal security in the wake of the terror attacks in Bangalore and Ahmedabad as also the Amarnath land transfer row in Jammu.

The Prime Minister had called the senior BJP leader to discuss the internal security scenario.

Home Minister Shivraj Patil and National Security Advisor M K Narayanan were also present at the meeting. BJP general secretary Arun Jaitley accompanied Advani.

“The internal security scenario and the situation in Jammu and Kashmir with regard to the Amarnath land row came up for discussion,” BJP spokesperson Rajiv Pratap Rudy said.

It is understood that Advani expressed strong reservations against the ‘soft attitude’ of the government towards terror and its perpetrators.

The explosions in Bangalore and Ahmedabad claimed 51 lives and left more than 200 wounded.

Party sources said Advani reiterated BJP’s demand for restoration of the land to Sri Amarnath Shrine Board.

The allocation of the land to the Board was revoked by the then Congress-led government in the state following withdrawal of support by its major ally PDP and widespread violent protests in Kashmir Valley.

However, the revocation order sparked violent protests in Jammu where the Sangh Parivar has been spearheading a long-drawn movement to press for restoration of the land to the shrine Board.

Sabarmati Jail prisoners called Pak after blasts: Cops

Four days after the blasts that ripped through Ahmedabad killing 49 people and injuring 180 others, the investigators have claimed a breakthrough in the case.

They said that a single terror organisation was responsible for the Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Jaipur blasts as well as the 21 live bombs that were found and defused in Surat.

And though the Gujarat Police didn’t name any organisation, investigations point to a Pakistan hand behind the terror plots.

Seven men accused under POTA are being questoined in Sabarmati Jail. All of them are linked to Dawood Ibrahim aide, Rasool Patti, who is a Pakistan national. Investigators say that there were calls made to Pakistan from the jail immediately after 18 blasts rocked Ahmedabad on Saturday. The police have seized three mobile phones from Sabarmati Jail.

Meanwhile, Surat Police Commissioner RMS Brar confirmed that the Bangalore and Ahmedabad serial blasts as well as the failed attack in Surat, have several similarities.

“It seems these bombs were planted in Surat before the blasts happened in Ahmedabad but they were only detected later. The chips used in Bangalore and Surat bombs were similar but we do not know if there is any other similarity between the two events. We do not know yet who is responsible for all this, but we are investigating. There is certainly a local hand supporting these mishaps,” he said.

According to the police, the bombs in Surat did not explode because of a chip malfunction. A glitch in the integrated chip prevented the bombs from going off.

Surat Crime branch Inspector, P M Parmar has said that the recovered chips have been sent for investigation.

“The detonator of the bomb was connected to both battery as well as the IC, so some programme must have been used. We have sent it to FSL, Gandhinagar, for investigation,” Parmar said.

BJP boycot CNN-IBN

Press Statement issued by Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu

The Bharatiya Janata Party is deeply dismayed by the decision of CNN-IBN not to telecast the “notes-for-votes” sting operation, which the channel conducted with the cooperation of three BJP MPs. The whole country watched with shock and disbelief when the three MPs produced wads of currency notes on the floor of the Lok Sabha on July 22 shortly before the Trust Vote was taken. The money was paid to Shri Ashok Argal, BJP MP, at his residence by a person representing a senior Samajwadi Party leader as “advance” for the MPs to abstain from voting that afternoon. The entire episode and the background that led to that transaction, was filmed through hidden cameras by a CNN-IBN team. Subsequently, the channel interviewed all the three MPs as a prelude to the promised telecast of the tapes.

More than a week has passed since one of the most sordid events in India’s Parliamentary history was captured on camera. Now the channel says that it has not aired the tapes since the investigation is “incomplete” and has some “loose ends”. This contention flies in the face of all accepted ethics of professional journalism. The job of the media is to bring information gathered by it into the public domain. It is not for a TV channel or newspaper to complete investigations and pronounce a verdict. That job must be left to investigating agencies and the judicial process.

Only one conclusion can be drawn from the channel’s volte-face : It has come under severe pressure from the Government and/or certain corporate houses. Consequently, it has not only broken its promise to the MPs to telecast the scandalous episode immediately, but also denied the people of India their sacrosanct right to information in a matter of the highest public importance. It is now up to CNN-IBN to disprove this lingering suspicion.

The mere handling over of the tapes to the Lok Sabha Speaker, that too after a mysterious lapse of 24 hours, is not adequate. Since the entire country saw wads of notes being waved inside the House, the people have the right to know about the origin and circumstances leading to this unprecedented display. The BJP MPs acted in the highest national interest as whistle-blowers on a scandal that dwarfs all previous incidents of parliamentarians being lured with cash to vote in a particular way.

The channel’s statement dated July 29, 2008 makes it virtually clear that it has no intention of allowing the people of India to witness the shameful actions of top leaders of the ruling alliance who discarded every norm of public morality to the wind in a desperate bid to save the already tainted Manmohan Singh Government.

In the background of the sting operation’s obduracy, the BJP has been compelled to decide that it will boycott CNN-IBN and channels related to it till such time as the unedited tapes of the “notes-for-votes” scandal are telecast. Till then no BJP functionary in Delhi or in the states will appear on CNN-IBN programmes, whether in their studios or outside. The BJP believes that the channel’s decision to withhold the tapes from the public seriously compromises the freedom of the Press. The party regrets that instead of upholding the right to information, CNN-IBN has resorted to the suppression of truth.

Even at this stage, the BJP calls upon the channel to revise its decision and telecast the tapes without any further delay. The party will happily review its decision to boycott CNN-IBN as soon as the tapes are aired. The BJP, needless to add, remains deeply committed to preserve and protect the freedom of the press and is prepared to assist, in whatever way possible, media organisations to withstand Government and corporate interference in their working.

What is “GOD” …….. - Daivee Shukla

What is “GOD” ……..

Young Vivekananda always ask people “have u seen GOD”? No body could reply “yes”& left the question unanswered. Once Vivekananda met Shree Ramakrishna paramhans & asked the same question .Ramakrishna replied “Yes son, I can see the GOD as I can see U. It is just matter of vision & belief”. Vivekananda become a student of Shree Ramakrishna & under his shelter of knowledge Vivekananda transformed in to Swami Vivekananda.

Today I have same question for one & all “Have u seen GOD?”, “What is GOD?”…….these basic questions are always unanswered & still people are fighting in the name of their GOD, isn’t it?

Truly speaking man itself is a creator of GOD. Let’s start the journey of man from Stone Age, when monkey was on the verge of transformation in to Homo sapience. This newly developed creature (human) had grater qualities then others- The quality to think, remembers, speak & create. His life was full of uncertainty & risks. Ability to think leads him to the basic questions like “What is life?”, “What is there before birth & after death?”, “What will happen next?” etc. He found a beautiful answer of all the questions in the name of “GOD”-the ultimate power/nature. Thus he established the theory of GOD - the creator & destroyer of each & every creature. The ultimate controller of past, present & future.

Time move on, man started living in small groups & ancient empires were created .Now the need of good social behavior, unity & co-operation aroused. Man redeveloped the thought of GOD. Grate thinkers kept in mind the idle behavior & human virtues of love, humanity & justice, created the characterization of GOD. Great stories were created to influence people to live life successfully. This was the creation process of all the great religious books like “Veda”, “Upanishad”, “Ramayana”, “Mahabharata”, “Bible”, “Quran” etc. These all books highly influence people , so that they follow them with great belief as rules to live. This gave the society immense stability to live. Thus man found all the answers of life in GOD.

Slowly man started forgetting real meaning of word “GOD” & “Religion”. Name pictures & statues of “God”, “Allah”, “Ram” worshiped but their values were disappeared from the heart of the common men.

Today we are fighting like animals for our religions but no one remembers that “all religions support LOVE, PEACE & HUMANITY”. Riots & Terrorism are sheer selfish attempts of few people who are hungry for power & wealth. These people (who describe themselves as a soldier of their religion) are using young blood & innocent minds to satisfy their own cruel & selfish desires.

Now it’s time to wake up for all youngsters of India. Now we have to decide what we want. Are you ready to become a instrument of these shrewd people or you want a new peaceful world? Decide what is GOD for you –A statue??, A book??,A picture?? Or the purpose behind their creation …….. The answer is in your hand………..The future is in your hand

Inflation rose to 11.98 per cent for the week ended July 19 as some food and manufactured products turned dearer, justifying the harsh monetary stance of the Reserve Bank of India [Get Quote] announced a couple of days back.

The moderation in inflation a week earlier to 11.89 per cent turned out to be an aberration as the rate of price rise is now a just a tad below the crucial 12 per cent. It has been rising unabatedly after petrol prices were increased by the government on June 5.

Prices of pulses, fruits and spices went up as did the rates some manufactured products items.

Inflation, the silent killer: Complete Coverage
Inflation stood at 4.65 per cent in the corresponding week a year ago.

This is the first official data on inflation after the Reserve Bank increased the short-term lending (repo) rate by 50 basis points to 9 per cent and also raised the mandatory deposits (CRR) that banks have to park with it by 25 basis points to cool down the rate of price rise.

However, the exact effect of these measures will be known after some time only as official data is released with a two week lag and hike in CRR would come into effect only after August 30.

Announcing the first quarterly review of the credit policy RBI Governor Y V Reddy had said that the main thrust of the policy would be to bring down inflation to 7 per cent by March, 2009.

Earlier, the apex bank had set the attempt to bring down inflation close to 5 per cent by end of this fiscal and lower it further to 4-4.5 per cent with a medium-term objective of 3 per cent.
